Tish Cyrus says she had a ‘complete psychological breakdown’ before divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus
|Tish and country star Billy Ray wed in 1993 and went on to welcome three kids together: Miley, 31, Braison, 29, and Noah, 24.
The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ hitmaker also adopted Tish’s children Brandi and Trace from her previous relationship.
While they were together for the best part of three decades, Tish and Billy Ray’s romance hasn’t always been smooth running.
The pair filed for divorce from each other on two separate occasions, but ended up calling them off.
However, when Tish filed in 2022, the famous pair made it clear that things were done for good.
In a joint statement announcing their split, Tish, 56, and Billy Ray, 62, said at the time: “It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts.
“We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths.”
Now, in a new interview with PEOPLE, Tish discussed how difficult it was to step away from a 30-year marriage.
“I’m over 50, I’ll be 57 this year. And when I literally was going through my divorce and trying to make that decision of stepping out of a 30-year marriage, I was terrified mostly,” she told the outlet.
Going on to say that she thought she was ‘going to be alone forever’, Tish added: “I had the crippling breakdown of anxiety.
“I joke about it and say I had a complete psychological breakdown. There were 30 days where I was not eating, sleeping, just felt like I was just coming out of my skin. And it was really scary.”
